DAMM Dispatcher

Description

DAMM TetraFlex® Dispatcher

The DAMM TetraFlex Dispatcher (Dispatcher) provides features for increased efficiency in organizations managing a fleet of subscribers with the needs of command, control and monitoring of radio communications.
The Dispatcher is a software package included in the DAMM TetraFlex software, allowing you to be instantly up and running with dispatcher functionalities.
The Dispatcher requires a dongle to connect to the system via the WAN network interface with an Application Gateway. This gateway is also used to connect to the application server that enables the geofencing function. For file and video transfer connection to a HTTP service on the IP backbone is needed.
It is possible to set up multiple connection profiles and user profiles in the same Dispatcher and even run multiple instances of the Dispatcher on the same machine. This enables monitoring of different networks using the same application.

Functions and features
The Dispatcher functions and features are dongle-controlled. Some functions also depend on individual subscriber rights. The different menus are shown in dockable windows, which can
be moved around and adjusted to best suit your needs.

Group calls
From the Group calls view you can perform and monitor broadcast and group calls. You can easily configure groups, e.g. by choosing when and how to display and listen to different groups. For easy recognition, you can also sort the groups under different headings.
The Dispatcher contains a Master PTT function, which can be used for easily assigning the master
PTT (push-to-talk) function to one or more groups.
It is possible to configure a function key (e.g. F2) or a USB-connected footswitch as the Master PTT for ease of operation.

Individual call functions, including video streaming

You can perform individual simplex and duplex calls, configure discreet and ambient listening and merge calls in the Individual calls view. During a call you may also receive live video streaming from a smart device running DAMM TetraFlex PTT.

Protection with ambient or discreet listening

In situations where an employee’s safety may be at risk, you can avail of the ambient listening function.
This allows you to remotely activate the microphone on the user’s terminal to listen to activity around the person.
The discreet listening function can be used to secretly listen in on active calls without alerting the calling parties. This is a useful function for e.g. public safety operations where the control room needs to be able to listen to communication between forces in the field.
Access to these functions is normally restricted to administrators using Dongle and Subscriber Register settings.

SDS and file options
Use the SDS function in the Messaging view to quickly send and receive SDS messages and files, including status and predefined text messages, with or without requests for delivery confirmation and consumed reports. Predefined text messages can be set up as one-click SDS messages, which can be colour-coded for easy recognition.
Icons in the toolbar and the messaging window give you a quick overview over unread messages, emergency messages and message delivery status.

Phonebook and subscriber register
The phonebook contains a list of subscribers belonging to the same and associated organization as the Dispatcher. This list is provided by the DAMM TetraFlex infrastructure and is obtained via the Application Gateway by means of the dedicated subscriber multicast address, and subscriber connection status is shown by colours. The phonebook allows access to the Subscriber Register, which contains details about individual subscribers as well as groups.

Creation of teams and DGNA groups

Emergency situations often require fast creation of teams for communication over a common group.
This is possible using the DGM1 option, which lets you create colour-coded teams and link these to DGNA groups. These groups can then subsequently be attached to each subscriber in the teams.
DGNA groups can also be attached to single subscribers. DGM actions, including assignment/attachment and deassignment/detachment of groups and enabling/disabling terminals, are stored in an action history menu.

Audio paths for easy distinction

Different audio paths can be set up for ten different types of audio events and alerts (e.g. duplex call, alarm, discreet listening). These audio paths are easily identified by icon and colour. Additionally, each audio path can be set up for playing back in both ears or only the left or right ear. These configuration options make it easy for dispatching personnel to distinguish between different call types and callers.

Echo cancellation
The Dispatcher contains a talking filter, which means that operating several Dispatchers in the same room can be done without the dispatching personnel needing headsets to cancel out unwanted noise or talk.

Visual node and HTTP service status and tracking of subscribers

The DAMM TetraFlex Dispatcher offers positioning from TETRA and DMR terminals as well as smartphones running the DAMM TetraFlex PTT app, with the option of colour-coding individual subscribers for ease of identification (see picture below). You can also select to show nodes. The positioning functionality uses map coordinates together with Open Street

Maps and/or Raster Maps.
Positions can be shown as either a function of automatic positioning information sent from the terminals or as a manual request from the Dispatcher.
Positions and position history can be viewed on a map or in a list containing information about speed and direction and RSSI measurements (only for supporting terminals). This can be used for coverage analysis and network planning.
The map here shows nodes (triangles) and colour-coded subscribers (circles), with detailed information about the selected subscriber in the side panel. We recommend using a second screen for the map.
